About Us
Once upon a time way back in the 1970's, several of our current charter single members would chat at social gatherings about "sometime let's get together and give a party for just our single friends".
By the end of 1972 they were gathering a most illustrious group of 11 guys and 11 gals who pooled some funds and started hatching plans for a private party. The planning meetings were such fun they wondered if their coming party could match the hilarity.
They put together a list of almost 300 very special unmarried friends. They were invited to a "no date singles Party on Sunday, May 20, 1973, for a Steak Fry and Bash." The place was a surprise, "board our bus -- parking lot of Biltmore Fashion Park", and the theme was "Casual and Cavorting".
The Super Bash was hilarious. At the parking lot, we drew members for partners on the bus ride and received cowboy "smiley" nametags. Buses took us to Villa de Paz Country Club. We sang original song "Take Me Out to the Singles Bash" and toasted "Singlehood". One person was arrested for not having a Singles license. We ate a gourmet dinner, changing dinner partners with each course.
Back in town a few days later, the survivors began to demand more of this fun, friendship and camaraderie. So, we organized and adopted by-laws in September, 1973.
